We have learnt about Pre-Roman people who lived on the Iberian Peninsula during the first millenium BC.:The Celts and Iberians and other people that came from different areas around the Mediterranean Sea. The Phoenicians arrived on the 12th century BC and founded the cities of Gadir (Cádiz) and Malaka (Málaga); the Carthaginians from Northern Africa founded Carthago Nova (Cartagena) and Ebussus (Ibiza); the ancient Greeks founded the city of Emporiom (Ampurias)
In 218 BC the Romans arrived on the Peninsula.
